Everyone likes to sip a yummy drink warm summer afternoons. What if it could be equally yummy and great for you skin at the same time?! My Tropical Breeze Frosty Recipe will keep you fully hydrated and is packed full of antioxidants, to optimize your beauty and health (without feeling light-headed or foggy).
It’s a great one to make in batches and share at your next pool or house party this summer, no preservatives, sugary fillers or rum needed (but if you did were already going to add a splash of alcohol from time to time, this would be a far better mixer combo than most of the usual ones!) :).
Tropical Beauty Fruits
One of the best fruits. Ever. Need I say more?
Well I will say that pineapple is also an amazing beauty food- it not only hydrates our body but is packed with bromelain—a special compound that helps to promote optimal digestion—which is key for truly supporting you in expressing your natural beauty!
And while we’re on the subject of bromelain, this enzyme contains anti-inflammatory properties, which can help in reducing the onset of aging, pain and even disease.
Pineapple helps the body naturally detoxify itself and lose weight—for those of you trying to support your weight-loss goals.
Pineapple is also an excellent source of the trace mineral manganese (an essential cofactor in a number of enzymes important in energy production and antioxidant defenses), and thiamin (which is a B vitamin that acts as a co-factor in enzymatic reactions), and central to energy production.
Mango is one of my other favorite tropical fruits. I just loaded up on them in Hawaii and had several a day! (Mangoes grow near the ocean, which makes them one of the many tropical fruits that are packed with reproductive and creative power (all in their natural form).
Because mango is one of the juiciest fruits, it’s one of the most hydrating, and when we keep our bodies hydrated, we keep things moving internally and externally, and therefore, keep our skin glowing too!
The bright orange-yellow mango contains vitamin C and is an amazing source of beta carotene (a natural antioxidant), used by the body to make vitamin A. They do have naturally occurring fructose but this is outweighed when we consider their high antioxidant content and vitamin C.
Their sweet and luscious flavor contains an abundance of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that aid in providing you with optimum health and beauty!
You will be happy to know that mangoes are very low in saturated fat, low in cholesterol, and sodium, an excellent source of dietary fiber (crucial to regular and safe elimination).
Mangoes are rich in minerals, like magnesium, potassium, and copper. These powerful antioxidants have the power to neutralize free radicals throughout the body, which will help to fight against premature aging.
Tropical Beauty Base: Coconut Water
I love to mix things up a bit and use a variety of bases for my smoothies, and coconut water is one of my faves. It’s light, and has a sweet earthy taste—it’s like putting nature right into your body!
Key nutrients found in coconut are potassium, magnesium and calcium. Potassium is an electrolyte which helps facilitate cellular cleansing and is about twice as concentrated in coconut water, as in a banana. These electrolytes help regulate the fluid levels inside cells and balance the high amount of puffiness, that may come from too much sodium intake.
There are trace minerals that come from up from the roots of the coconut trees—making coconut water super-rich in minerals.
If you want to stay beautiful, hydrated, and energized, then coconut water is the way to go. Let’s start filling our bodies up with beauty goodness and start prepping these amazing ingredients!

- 11 ounces coconut water, Chilled
- ½ cup coconut water ice cubes
- ¾ cup frozen pineapple
- ¼ cup frozen mango
- 1 tsp lemon or lime juice
- 1 tsp coconut nectar
- Coconut yogurt, shredded coconut (optional)
- Add coconut water, coconut water ice cubes, pineapple, mango, juice and coconut nectar to blender.
- Blend starting on low until smooth.
- Serve immediately on it’s own or layer in a glass with coconut yogurt and top with shredded coconut!
