My new recipe for you today is my Sweet Cherry Smoothie Recipe. Cherries are delicious and help with our Beauty Sleep, among many other important functions.
I really love how every season has it’s beauty stars- foods that are in season, delicious and fresh, and have incredible health and beauty benefits. And guess what? One of the stars of the moment is beautiful cherries!
Preparing our bodies for a good nights rest isn’t just about what we do right before bed. It includes trying to create regular rhythms of our schedule, such as eating meals at roughly the same time. It also includes the food choices that we make throughout the day. Let’s find out how cherries have the power to help improve and create deep, rejuvenating sleep!
Beautifying Fruit: Cherries
Yes, cherries are one of nature’s few sources of melatonin (a hormone that lowers body temperature), making us sleepy.
One study shows how cherries are an excellent source of melatonin, and by increasing their intake, you increase your melatonin levels—which leads to better beauty sleep .
Something to note when heading to your local farmers market, is there are higher level of melatonin in tart cherries compared to sweet cherries. But still, it’s contained in all of them ! This is important, because sweet cherries are mostly the kind we like to actually eat :)!
As for the belly fat, research has found that when whole tart cherry powder helped prevent weight gain and body fat. That’s pretty amazing for any of us that want to avoid belly fat! .
As for staying young as long as we can and defying age, cherries contain high levels of antioxidants, which help our bodies fight free radicals that make us look old and haggard.
If we want to slow down the aging process, than we need to up our cherry intake, and this afternoon smoothie will help you do just that!
So with all this talk on sleep, reducing belly fat, and slowing down the age process, you can see why these little red gems are considered one of my favorite beautifying fruits!
Add some hydrating coconut water, potassium-packed banana, and calcium-filled dates, and your body will get wonderful benefits from this power-packed smoothie!

- 1 cup frozen cherries
- 1 frozen banana
- 2 dates
- 1 cup coconut water
- Optional toppings: coconut, fresh cherries, or frozen berries
- Blend cherries, banana, dates and coconut water starting on low and increasing speed until smooth.
- Top with suggested toppings if desired.
